Sacramento River Striped Bass "Striper" Fishing

The Sacramento River, which is California's largest river by discharge, is famous within the fishing community for its salmon runs. Several times a year the salmon migrate from the Pacific Ocean to their breeding area near Redding, but only the runs that happen in the fall and late fall are open to fishing, so plan accordingly.

The shad run usually starts on the Feather River and Sacramento River in late May to early June and runs into July. These fish are great fighting fish with 50 fish days common. It’s a great way to spend the day with the family catching fish.

I also offer trout fishing trips on Lake Oroville and Lake Almanor, as well as fishing for largemouth bass on Lake Oroville. If you want an exciting change of pace, I can take you bowfishing for carp on Lake Oroville. I offer a combination trip on Lake Oroville that includes bass fishing and bow fishing for carp in the same day.
